Mary Ann Leslie is a "recovering pessimist" with thirty-plus years of negative thinking to her credit. For many years Mary Ann faithfully attended the School of Hard-Knocks where she excelled in learning life's lessons the hard way. During her years at Hard-Knocks Mary Ann’s foundation courses were negativity, fear, and doubt and her all-consuming advanced studies were pessimism and skepticism.
Then, in March of 1998, Mary Ann inadvertently enrolled in a book study that would change her life. During the course she was introduced to positive affirmations and the power of directing the mind to think and express more positive thoughts. At first she was inclined to dismiss positive affirmations as so much hocus-pocus. After all, just how powerful could a few positive words be? So it was with much negativity and a good deal of skepticism that she proceeded to do the “homework” for the book study which involved repeating positive affirmations each day.
Several more months would pass before Mary Ann realized she was seeing life from a totally new perspective. This realization brought her to a crossroads and, at that point, she chose to travel a previously unexplored path. This path would lead to her becoming a passionate student of the power of positive affirmations and positive thought.
Today, Mary Ann recommends daily doses of positive affirmations as a way to develop a more positive attitude, achieve a general state of cheerfulness, and bring about a sense of well-being. Mary Ann also believes that maintaining a positive attitude and expressing more positive thoughts improves relationships with family, friends, co-workers, and others one may know and meet throughout the course of each day.
Mary Ann specifically recommends using “I AMfirmations” – positive affirmations beginning with “I AM” – to gain focus and understanding of one’s thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. |
